school bus

Dear Families,

I want to welcome you all back! Our team has been working toward inspections of all buses in preparation for our state bus inspections in August. We are recruiting new drivers with the goal to provide consistent transportation for families in this trying time of driver shortages.

This summer we have had a team of five drivers that have provided transportation to students during the month of July. Thank you to Joel, Dennis, Al B, Al M, and Kate. Without your commitment to our students, it would not have been possible for students to close the gap in their educational progress and allow them to enjoy all Maine has to offer.

The following are links to our transportation Policy and Procedures. Please take a look at this information.

Please ensure that your child is outside at the bus stop 5 minutes prior to the time posted.

A reminder that students will need their student badges to scan on and off the bus. Please take some time to ensure they are with your students at the start of school. If a student does not have a student badge, please reach out to me and I will assist you with obtaining a new badge. Please know that your student will be allowed to ride the bus without the badge, however, the badges increase safety and efficiency on all bus routes.

Bus routes will be posted on our website on or before the week of Aug 15th. To ensure the best routes possible, we need to better understand where your child will be dropped off and picked up each day. This will allow us to give you the most accurate information for your child as we work toward our GPS roll out.

I have attached a transportation information form for you to complete if there have been any changes from last year.

Please send this back to me by July 28th.

This will allow me to update all your child’s transportation information in a timely manner.

Thank you for your help and if you have any questions please feel free to contact me at 685-3621 ext. 1, or email me at kelly_thompson@maranacook.com. Thank you and have a great day.

Best wishes,

Kelly Thompson, Transportation Director
