Dear staff and families,
I'm writing to update you on the evolving situation in our community and the steps we are taking out of an abundance of caution.
As you know, our neighboring community recently experienced an act of violence that has deeply impacted many of us. In particular, we recognize that this tragedy has directly affected some of our staff, students, and families. Please know our hearts go out to those grieving or dealing with injuries in our community.
In light of this horrific event and fluid circumstances in our area, RSU #38 Maranacook Area Schools will be canceled tomorrow, Friday, October 27, 2023. Additionally, all extracurricular activities and district-related events are canceled until further notice.
I understand this news brings mixed emotions and many questions. Please know these decisions were made carefully, prioritizing our students' and staff's health, safety, and well-being.
We will continue monitoring the situation in coordination with officials to determine when normal operations can resume. I will provide updates as new information becomes available.
In the interim, please take preventive measures to keep your family safe. We also encourage you to support one another and demonstrate compassion. By working together, we will get through this difficult period.
